It's been a busy year with school, putting up coyotes, and now deer season. Opening day started out with several trespassers on some private ground. I ended up passing on 3 legal bucks opening day. So the interesting thing about shooting this buck was the events that led up to his timely death. First and foremost, my classes were canceled yesterday, without that, I never would have hit the field. Second, I missed a decent muley early in the morning. And third, I hadn't even spotted this guy bedded until I was staring at a little buck right above him. I spotted his white face and immediately told my buddy don't move, he's a good buck. So my first shot punched straight through his lungs but he wore it like nothing, my second shot was a little higher. Finally he got weak and buckled over. Because of a good buddy, I was able to tag my buck of a lifetime.
