First Elk hunt
« on: October 24, 2016, 07:36:34 PM »
Hello all, I am new here and new to the Elk hunting. I just returned from Eastern Wa and bagged this beauty. I would like to follow up with a nice Elk. I am not sure where to go. I am not looking for secret spots I am looking for a good area that will provide a beginner with a nice chance at a good hunt. I am open to suggestions and ideas. I have a Western tag and not afraid to hike (although I have to let the blisters heal from the dear hunt). Thanks in Advance guys/gals.

That is a cool rack! Invest in some good rain gear for rifle elk on the wet side, and check out the harvest statistics on wdfw page, then try to find timber land that doesn't require a permit. Honestly for your first year just seeing elk would be a successful trip.

Thanks everybody for the replies. This was a nice deer and the rack was unbelievably non-typical. I was using some of the sites that jennabug posted and came across a couple areas. I do have one more question about the Mount Si NRCA area. Is this a free to hunt area and if so has anyone ever hunted this land. I am waiting for Snoqualmie timber to respond about permits for the very large area of GMU 460 that they own (which I do not understand). Thanks again for all the assistance with this and if there is anymore information on the 460 area I would greatly appreciate it. Happy Hunting. May see you all out there in the field.
