Sabot Reloading Pro - Anybody ever heard of them?
« on: December 14, 2016, 10:49:25 AM »
A guy saw a few boxes of Remington Accelerator over at my mom's house and asked me if I had ever heard of these guys.   Nope, never heard of them.

I have a post somewhere on here about these. Did it with my 06. Reloads don't group. We also compared it to the Remington store bought. They did better but not very very much.
Search function doesn't work on my phone but in the search put in my handle and accelerator.
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

I have loaded several 30cals with sabots. I like .308win the best, I get my sabots from E. A. Brown. Load data is available for 30-30, 308, 30-06 & 300wimmag on the site. You can make a bullet go real fast. I haven't cronoed any but on the data sheet for 308 4800 to 5200fps are quoted. They are easy to load, no special equipment needed, just your regular press. You got to use flat base bullets to fit the sabots, You almost have to dedicate a rifle to this round. On the instruction sheet from E. A. Brown it is stated that your barrel MUST be pristine as new clean. With a CLEAN tube you an get pretty good groups, but after several shots the groups open up, plastic build up. Another reason for poor grouping is the bullet not being concentric in the sabot/cartridge, you got to make sure the bullet tip is dead center otherwise the bullet will not fly true. They are a pain in the ass to roll but fun to shoot and when all works right the effects of the bullet traveling that fast when it hits a soft target are pretty cool.
