Montana/North Dakota
« on: November 26, 2016, 08:57:50 AM »
Made it back from our annual month long adventure to upland paradise. Birds were spotty in some areas but great in others with record numbers of sharpies and quite a few huns. Had a new pup with me that had only been introduced to the gun and a handfull of birds that really started to shine after a couple hundred birds.

Be careful with those month long trips. Montana is really starting to crack down on possession limits. I know a guy that hunts Montana for a month every year and they nailed him for having over 9 birds in possession at his RV. I'm not saying you did anything illegal I'm just stating that for anyone that goes there. If the hunting is good its hard to stay over 3-4 days unless you and your dogs are eating a lot of pheasants. It's a bummer but thats how they enforce it.
I just got back from Montana. It was my second trip of the year. We found a lot of birds where we were at. I had heard some bad reports but we found lots of birds.

Three roosters in MT and three in ND (in the field). Nine in your possession in MT and twelve in ND. Sharpies and huns are different.

Nice

How many dogs were you running and how often did you switch out?

Kick up any big wt's in the cover?

I seemed to have kicked up more than normal this year in Montana and ND

2 big ones

The gun numbers seem up this year
