Maybe a hobby for some....but being a hunter has paid off for me....and from my experience, it's not cheaper to buy it at the store. And the meat at the store is low quality. I got a buck this year, and got about 70 lbs of meat. It's not much but I paid $20 for my deer tag (I'm a disabled vet) and I've had my bow and other gear for years....I don't spend hundreds on arrows or anything. In all I spent about 60 bucks for 70 lbs of meat this year.....couldn't get that much healthy meat for that price at the store. I'm gonna be buying a house next year and plan on buying some land with it. I'll raise my own animals too and harvest them....but until that happens, hunting is still a viable option for me. At least for deer! haha Elk is a bit harder for me.

Im having a bad year here personally, only tag ive filled is bear.  Im still out with my bow trying to find a good buck, but its getting to where every day im having to make the choice between shooting a young dumb buck or eating my tag.  But thats how it goes, some good years some bad years.  I might just eat my deer tag this year.  Kinda hard thing to swallow, but it is what it is.

I agree. It is what it is. Sucks for sure though.

I wish I could do that all the time! I've been a rifle Hunter for the last 13 years and got a muzzle tag this year. I always see elk during seers season and usually find big bucks during elk season. I try to hunt the same areas for both and never see what's in season. Frustrating but I'll take it any day over being in the city!
My interpretation of the rules are open to interpretation.
Once I thought I was wrong but I was mistaken.
