I tow a weighted pallet back and forth

I tow a weighted pallet back and forth

Does that work well?  I'm sure it's a heck of a lot cheaper than the ATV plow setups I've seen.

I pushed a heck of a bunch of snow with the moose front mount high lift plow and winch.

One suggestion I have is go to walmart and get a 10 to 20 foot tow strap (the yellow cheapies about 3 inches wide) and cut it in half.   Take a lighter to the cut end to melt the fray.

remove all the cable off your winch drum

duct tape the strap on the burnt end but leave a tail about 12" long.

feed the duct tape tail through the winch rollers and feed it onto the drum

winch the strap in onto the drum, the tape will hold it to the drum until it feeds on itself

once it's all fed in hook the cable end to your plow and winch it tight,  the strap will tighten itself to the drum and not spin

good for 1000's of up's and downs on the plow and won't ruin your winch cable.

Buy the biggest "county" plow blade you can. I have a Moose 60" on a little Honda 350 Rancher and plow and am sure glad I went as big as I could. Takes A LOT of wet snow before I have issues. Also, using a rope or strap to move your blade is a must. :twocents:

I have 5 foot warne on my Yamaha 660 and I plow almost 1/4 mile long gravel driveway
Great very well built plow. Make sure the brackets are done correctly when welded on

Good idea using tow strap vs cable as the cable will fray and break after heavy use

I put chains on and when snowing heavily I keep on top of the snow especially heavy wet snow

Cycle Country 60 inch plow is what I used to use, plus plow mount, push tubes..you need a winch too.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

On heavy wet snow don't use the high lift plow that mounts on the front even though it's easier to connect and disconnect.  If you really need a lot of snow pushing get the under frame push tube type.

On black top though if you stay on top of the snow and don't neglect to plow then the front mount is very handy.

:yeah: plus when looking at under frame mounts, look for one that gets wider as it goes towards where it mounts, it will be much stronger/stable.

I have a 6' blade and mount like below on my SxS. After 2 seasons of heavy plowing the frame was really tweaked, I welded a new one that is much stronger.  The mount I had on an Arctic Cat Quad widened as it went back, it was bullet proof.

Bought an Eagle Country Plow. 60" and mounted to the 700 Artic Cat. Had it four years and is super easy to mount and dismount. 4- bolts and the plow mount comes off for the off season. I'd think one would really have to hit something pretty hard to break any part of it. I think you would end up over the handle bars before anything broke. :twocents:
