Got this nice male this morning. Cold, snow, and the 'yotes were on the move! At daybreak, I went a ways downwind by vehicle, then walked upwind into a nearby alfalfa field. Coyotes have been in there a lot, but not coming to calls. I had a good approach through a small ravine, and the plan was to try and ease out of the end of said ravine, and maybe surprise a coyote mousing. So, I was about fifty yards from where it would open up, when a coyote trotted across the opening, right to left, at about that distance. He didn't see me, so I dropped down to my knees, and gave a little vocal yip, hoping that he would pop back to investigate. Several seconds went by, and i began to advance slowly. Then two coyotes came out from the left,at about a hundred yards and both stopped. I took the bigger one, and dropped him. At the shot, his partner, and another coyote on the right hit the burners out of there!
