Getting better slowly. Came decide if I like skinning from the lip to tail or tail to lip. I struggle around the neck under the cheeks I end up with a chunk of meat on the hide some how and i also have a hard time coming around the back I can keep the hide real clean on the belly but coming up the side to the back I end up with a layer of meat on the hide. Hopefully building my fleshing beam tomorrow from 10" PVC got my boards made up so this weekend will be fleshing and stretching hopefully!

I have been fleshing muskrats on the board they are easy to do but I can't believe the amount of fat on these beaver I didn't expect it but at the moment they are living under 6" of ice so I guess they have to stay warm somehow. Today's check was a zero and the house has only a small feed pile ( this lake rarely freezes so I think they don't make a huge feed pile cause its usually open water) so they are swimming almost 300 yards to the creek where there is open water to feed. We found six holes in the ice today where they have been coming up and feeding. Wood chips all around each hole so moved traps around to see if we can connect with one more off this house before we pull out and move to the next spot

Started raining this morning! Hope the actions picks up now hopefully today's check has something in it! Did Christmas with my mom and step dad last night. My stepdad is from Alaska and used to trap when he was a boy and he has been supporting and helping me. He knew I still needed a good fleshing knife so he gave me a 100$ gift card to amazon to get one. Since post are not sold there I went with a 12" weibe and see how I like it and I have enough left over to get another if I need to. Also used that to get a new magneto for my boat motor so boat is fixed and I'm ready to flesh I would call that an awesome Christmas present from one generation of trapper to another!
