26 Nosler.... Which Model?
« on: December 22, 2016, 09:04:53 AM »
I've narrowed down my search for a 26 Nosler to a few choices. I would like your guy's input on these rifles if you have one or have seen one shoot. Mainly looking for accuracy using the Nosler Trophy Grade ammo.

Models:
1) Nosler M48 Liberty - I like the price for what you appear to get.

2) Cooper Excalibur - a tad more expensive but they guarantee 1/2 moa

3) Fierce Edge - Don't know much about these but they also say 1/2 moa and look to be good quality

4) Legendary Arms Professional- Hard to find reviews but from what I've read they seem to be pretty good.

Any and all input is appreciated. Thanks

Talk to Mike @ Hell's Canyon Armory and see what he can do.
I know @SilkOnTheWetSide  has one of his rifles, as well as @BLRman
Maybe a little more $ than the ones you posted but not much.

I shot a friend of a friends Nosler M48 on the 4th of July last summer.  I was impressed.  I really liked the trigger.

It depends on how much you wanna spend.  I own a Legendary arms 6.5 Creedmoor, out of the box i shot  3/8" groups.  But if you have the cash, I love my Cooper, love it.  But the Cooper and Fierce you have to buy mags.  If you wanna spend a lil less go with the Legendary, if you PM me I know where one is in stock in 26 nosler

I know Mike is building a couple different 28 Nosler's right now.  His stuff is pretty amazing.  He's gonna be starting my 6.5-06ai here pretty soon.  If you find yourself near Selah on a weekend hit me up and you can shoot mine.

Out of the choices you listed though get the Cooper.  They are good shooters.

I've narrowed it down to either the Fierce Edge or a Cooper 52 Excalibur. My local Cooper dealer said it would be $2,320ish and the Fierce is around $2,500 at big box outdoors store where I live. This is a tough decision here boys

I'm really curious to hear from people with experience like @Michael_J about the 26, 28 and 30 Nosler. I've heard they're fickle beasts but I'd like to hear from the experts.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Cooper . I love mine in 6.5x284. Buddy has a Nosler 48 rifle and another  has a Fierce ( both in 6.5x284 ).  Out of the box my Cooper was the most accurate with off the shelf ammo. We all reload so now they are all sub 1/2"

My choice would be a GAP non-typical in 6.5saum.    8)

I'm really curious to hear from people with experience like @Michael_J about the 26, 28 and 30 Nosler. I've heard they're fickle beasts but I'd like to hear from the experts.

I haven't built a 26 Nosler yet, hard to justify the barrel life on a custom for that extra FPS when you have other 6.5 chambers out there that can push a 140 grain bullet 3100-3200fps with 1500ish barrel life.  Though I'd sure like to build a few!  The rebarrels alone would keep me busy haha

The 28's are shooting really really well, I like the shorter fatter case design, leaves some good room for the 180 Hybrids or the 195 EOL's in a standard LA magazine.  My 30 Nosler reamer should be here ANY DAY and I'm excited to see how that one compares to the tried and true 300 Win.  I don't mind the belted case too much on the 300 Win, but gaining a little more usable mag length and I think the extra 5% case capacity could be a great thing!  Rarely do you size up in caliber to lose accuracy so I have high hopes for the 30 Nosler.
