called in a hunter
« on: February 14, 2009, 10:56:03 PM »
were any of you up in Kapowson today hunting with a dog named jake? if you were i think we were talking,er howling any ways. id been calling in the same area for about a hour when all the sudden i hear a dog barking. so i give some pup yips and i get a howl back. i could tell it was a call so i give a similar howl back and then i hear "come on jake" the only thing that concerned me was the dog had very similar colors to a coyote and i did see the dog before i heard the voice. now i make damn sure i know what im shooting before i pull the trigger but not every body does. i knew it was a hunter and his dog but some one else might have shot that dog. any way if it was you i was howling with, hello, and be careful id hate to see jake get shot

Naw, I was waaayyy far away from there. I see lots of sign but haven't called one in yet. I'm using a caller but I'm not sure what calls work the best. I'm pretty new at this. Mostly using ki-yi and pup sounds. I think I'll try woodpecker and rabbit next time.
