I posted this over on rockslide also.
I've had a bag of dog food in pack with the bottom straps on pack cinched down to keep bag up but it still rode pretty low in pack but pack felt good.
I read to put lighter stuff in bottom also to raise weight up higher I just put a coat in bottom then the bag of dog food and dang huge difference it actually felt like I took 10 lbs out of pack.
This thing keeps getting better 😆

I am very surprised that so many are enamored with Kifaru packs when I read about those on this thread that have to use dry bags and zip lock bags to keep the contents dry.

I haven't seen very many packs that are water proof that are long lasting and tough.  Cordura 500 is tough stuff.  I would rather have that then some other material that would be equal in weight and water proof.  I keep clothes and sleeping bag in a waterproof compression sack and isn't a big deal to me at alll.

Love my Kifaru Packs:

DT1 w/ 26inch Duplex Frame (Has packed out a bull elk and gone on a few backpacking trips. No problems.

Antero in Black w/ no waist belt (my edc, that also packed out an antelope this fall)

and

Size Large and XS Kifaru Duffel. All items work great for what they are intended to do.

ZERO high end packs are waterproof. Waterproof material isn't durable.

If waterproof is the metric, this one ought to make your heart pound!

For rain protection, just put one of the $25 backpack covers on it. REI sells multiple options, with their own brand being the cheapest. I keep one stowed in each of my hunting packs and pull it out when the rain starts.  I've never had water get inside my pack with a pack cover on.

:yeah:  I have a Kifaru and an Exo, love them both, anything I am concerned about getting wet, goes in a dry bag.

I get the distinct impression that Kifaru  is the least water resistant of all the high end packs.  I do not hear about other packs taking on water to the degree Kifaru packs do.  I have formed this impression based on years and hours upon hours of reading in forums such as this one, as a pattern has developed.  From personal experience my Badlands takes on water where my Stone Glacier has not.  Perception may be reality or may not be.
