I just called Toyota last week for a frame inspection on my 2006 Tacoma.
They said the frame inspection expired LAST MARCH and told me to suck it.
Do a search on this forum for my experience with the leaf spring recall.

My 95 Grand  Cherokee was an awesome rig with solid axles, inline 6cyl and a much more advanced 4wd system than what you can get on a Toyota today.
All it needed was basic maintenance and an ac condenser which Jeep was happy to warranty.
I replaced the original battery at 112k miles before I sold it to my BIL.
Great rigs.
There was a lawsuit filed against them for that. you should try again. If I remember when I get home I'll take a picture of the card I got in the mail and post it here
I got the card, too...Toyota told me to suck it when I reported the sagging leafs in 2010('We don't make cars that have sagging leafs') so I replaced the rear suspension out of pocket and now when I express concerns over my frame, which is a known issue, Toyota says 'If you want to do something about it, file a class action lawsuit against a multi-national conglomerate with deep pockets and a legal team on staff'.

So now we are blessing a car that lacks a suitable frame and rear springs?
I must be really confused about the expectations for a 'truck'.

Looks like you had till 3/31/16 to have it inspected. They released that 3/20/2015. You had a year.
:dunno:

crud, I have a Tundra, I just got my letter in the mail a couple weeks ago. It was from a Class action lawsuit

I had it inspected about 3 or 4 years ago when I first learned of the problem.
They said it was fine then.
I was under it changing the tranny oil last month and noticed some spots that concern me. Apparently frame rot and customer safety are limited-time concepts.
I can't say enough bad things about Toyota and their arrogance.
Still waiting on my leaf spring reimbursement like they ever intended to honor that.
Truly fascinating.

Reimbursement? I took mine in, like 6 hours later had a brand new 4 pack leaf installed worth about 1350 bucks for free with no charge at all and they are bad ass. Toyota of puyallup
No, they are not '--------'.
They are barely passable.
This has been beaten to death on Tacomaworld.com and others.
When I told Toyota I had flat leaf 'springs' in 2010, they told me I was wrong and on my own to fix them, so I did.
If you want '-------' springs, you're not going to get them from Toyota.
Try OME and Bilstein (real Bilsteins, not the crappy car shocks Toyota uses on the TeRD to make people think they have something decent).

(Please refrain from the profanity. We try to maintain a family friendly forum here. Thanks)

Found him.

The 1 guy not happy with a Toyota. Lol

For what its worth I really like my 2010 Colorado. Its been really reliable except the rpm and temp gauges going out, but I suppose an f150 would probably be a more practical rig because of the larger bed.

My brother buys Toyota Tacomas and he likes to get the 4 cylinder manual transmission variety because he thinks he gets better fuel mileage and reliability. Hes had a 2wd 88, a 4wd 95 and the Tacoma he has now is a 4wd 09 and in all honesty I HATE his Tacoma. Probably because its a 4 cylinder stick. The best way to describe the engine is "zingy". All top end off the start so you feel like you have to rev the crap out of it off the line and then when it engages the tires spin if the traction is so so. I'm sure the 6 cyl with an automatic transmission is much more enjoyable to drive...it has to be right?

Now, his 88 with the 4 cylinder, 5 speed stick was AWESOME to drive. Tons of low end off the start that could be revved out nicely with a really nice feel to the stick. Short throw and the gears went in smoothly. Toyota did some something to the nice meaty engine between 1988 and 1995 because the 95engine was all "zingy". There was NO WAY to go from a dead start on a gravel road without spinning out. Annoying as hell.

And his 09 Tacoma is just one big blind spot, you cant see anything but out the windsheild...and dont get me going on the beeping when you dont buckle up. I just want to go from the shop out into the field and I have to spend 45 seconds listening to beeps.

I'll have to ask him about his leaf springs the next time I see him and I'll report back

For what it's worth, I battled Toyota about the leaf spring deal too. The recall replacements are not great either. I eventually had to fix it on my own dime. Besides that and some other repairs, I'm still happy with it. I'm not a fan of corporate Toyota.

Love my 2006 Tacoma TRD.
Bought it, put new bilstein 5100 shocks all around, OME springs up front, a progressive 3 leaf AAL in the back to get about 1.75-2 inches of lift, 32 inch AT tires, and the thing has more ground clearance than my buddy's lifted RAM on 35's.
Love the truck to death.  I had a cherokee at one point and couldn't wait to get rid of it.  Sold it for a 97 toyota pick up that I eventually traded in for my 2006.
I have had a a 93 yota 4x4, 97 tacoma trd, 2003 tacoma trd, and now a 2006 trd.
(nothing wrong with any of these trucks, i just had the hankering for something newer and shinier).  And I will tell you something, all of those except the one I traded into the dealership, I bought, drove for 3-4 years, and sold for the same price I paid for them with just basic maintenance.
Next truck will be a newer tacoma.  Cheap maintenance, good reliability, and very strong resale, can't beat those things in my opinion.
If you aren't towing a big camper trailer or something, hard to beat the Tacoma in my opinion.
FWIW my dad has a 2006 ish Nissan Frontier that he seems very happy with as well.
