GMU 335
« on: February 24, 2017, 06:50:11 AM »
First year grandson & I will be seriously hunting turkeys during the spring hunt and was wondering if anyone knew if GMU 335 had a fair number of turkeys in it. Only reason I ask is it is the closest unit to where we live and scheduling time can be a problem. So I know it will have a lot of hunters because it is close and easy to get to from the west side of the state and it has a lot of private land but would it be a good or OK place to begin learning how to hunting turkeys.

I am also thinking about putting in for the special permit draw in that unit but don't expect to be drawn.

All the info I can get is appreciated. Thanks

There are pockets but those are few and far between. Not really a turkeys hunters dream area. Might want to look going ne for numbers or sw.

The turkeys that I seen in that unit last fall were permanent residents on private property. Never did see any on state or forest service.
$5 is a lot of money if you ain't got it

I have hunted the 335 unit for the past 5 years and I have shot 3 birds out of the Teanaway valley, I know they ain't a lot of birds in the valley any more but if your willing to put the time and effort in, you will find them. If you are willing to hike a few miles then you will find them, try to get behind or above the private property that is your best bet.
