Turkey Load for Remington Model 17
« on: February 25, 2017, 02:59:08 PM »
Does anyone have experience hunting turkey with a Remington Model 17? What loads are you using?

Thanks,

Al

No direct experience. I'd probably get a few brands and see which pattern best with your set-up. What gauge is your gun and what kind of choke are you using?

It's a 20ga full Choke vintage gun, I'm fairly sure lead is the only way to go but never hunted turkey, not sure if just any 4-6 shot round will do?

Best to pattern with 4, 5 & 6 shot at different distances --- maybe even different manufacturers.  You can take 3 identical shotguns with the same chokes and each can pattern differently.  You will not only learn what's most effective for your setup, but also will learn its effective range and not depend on the BB gods.
