WDFW Clinics for Turkey
« on: February 27, 2017, 11:09:21 AM »
I just received an email from WDFW about upcoming turkey hunting clinics.  There are 5 sessions coming up.  I'd suspect these clinics are for people who have not turkey hunted.

funny thing bob, just read the link you provided, in unethical section of the pamphlet, they say shooting on ground is considered unethical. Not really applicable to turkey pamphlet...

There will be more to come.  I am committed to one in Marysville on March 30th, and one possibly in Black Diamond.  Also I heard the some in the south sound to.  If you get a chance to get into a clinic with Rich Mann.  Great guy with a ton of information.  Loves to teach.

Yeah.

Just remember that it's also unethical while hunting turkeys to be "Shooting a deer or elk at 1000 yards." (I think that's referring only to your shotgun or crossbow. ;) )

Copy and paste. :chuckle:

I'm going to the one down here in Vancouver. Taught by Ken and Nancy Keller. I've only been hunting turkey one season about 15 years ago and got some answers to my hen clucks, but no eyes on birds. Haven't gone since. Hopefully this will give me some new information.

I have done clinics for over a decade at Cabelas in Olympia & Tulalip, Sportsman's Warehouse/Wholesale Sports in Silverdale, GI Joes in Federal Way, Puyallup & Lakewood, and various other sportsmen's venues in the Puget Sound region ... except the last 2 years when I was just buried at work.  Bass Pro even asked me last year, but I was unable (J.O.B. again).

Russ McDonald and Rich Mann will both do a great job. I know both and their passion for turkey hunting and the NWTF.

Since I will be retired in less than 2-1/2 days, I wouldn't mind doing some clinics again myself.  They are very informative and can do nothing but give you a better chance of being successful .... I was taught the hard way by the wild turkeys since decent clinics were not available when I started turkey hunting, or just not informative, or put on by outfitters than were more interested in selling a hunt rather than educating new hunters.

Go if able ... it will help you with the learning curve.

I know there was one last month in the area that the NWTF regional director did at Sportsmans Warehouse.  I don't know of any that the WDFW is putting on.  It would be on their website which the link is posted.  They are adding more as they come.  Get in contact with the local NWTF chapter there.  I will look it up for you
