With the lack of support on here, I doubt my friend will share any details from the meeting. Everybody is good with complaining on here, which is pretty much the same as peeing into the wind, but when it comes time for the rubber to meet the road....nobody's there.

Jackelope- I'd be curious what to hear went on/transpired. Im still fairly new to the wolf reintroduction stuff/info. I can understand a little bit of why people are *complaining*, due to being screwed in the past, but complaining and doing nothing because "it'll do nothing" would be like handing in your guns now because "sooner or later they will get their way".
I like to form my own opinions, and thoughts, so anything to help form those is appreciated (not just he said/she said)

I forwarded a link to this thread to the guy that was there and who got to speak on the behalf of hunters in our state. If he comments, great.

I can't really talk as I've never been to a meeting either. Trying to spread the word where I can. A lot of times, I can't get out of my job to attend meetings. Not trying to  make excuses...just saying. I understand when people can't go.

@jackalope
I hope your friend reports on the meeting despite most people's unhappiness with the departments in/action on wolves.I

Your friend obviously cares enough about hunting to volunteer by going to the meeting and studying the issue. I would implore him to go the next step by helping to put forth an unfiltered version of the meeting. Hunters are not organized, but the first step is education and disseminating the information.

I had a club member on the same advisory  committee.  He was frustrated at the department and many peoples reponces on here.  Many people take the feedback too personal, and a lot is lost in translation in most people's writing.

Fact is that we NEED this information published, and we also need to get organised and I feel they go hand in hand.

Tell your friend Thank You for volunteering from me and all of us.

I also had a buddy on the waterfowl advisory group at one point. I would normally talk to him and look up the states information about the meeting.

The reason why the reporting is important is because the information from the department  either lacks detail or doesn't talk about the meat of the issues being discussed. Unfortunately I only got him to post on here a few times.

He's a member and he'll see all of this. Thanks for the good words.

Often time we air our frustrations with the department and it spills onto those that volunteer.

It's unfortunate and not many peoples intentions including my own when we do so.

Volunteering is tough and can seem thankless. I think if there was more information for general consumption it would help especially on this issue since we mostly agree on how messed up the wolf issue is. The department doesn't do them self any favors with the Hunting community because they are caught in the cross hairs. What a volunteer says the WDFW is not responsible for, which places extra weight on the need for the information.

Please keep in mind that there are many of us who have already put in a great deal of time going to meetings and trying to have a positive impact on the wolf issue long before now. I attended meetings and wrote many letters when the wolf plan was being developed and there are other hunt-wa members who I saw at some of those meetings and know went to other meetings I was unable to attend. I'm really glad someone still wants to be involved and that he took the time to speak, but there are numerous other hunters who have already devoted much time and effort. Maybe I misunderstood your comments, but I find it interesting that because none of us jumped now we do not deserve to hear about the meeting!  :dunno:

@Bearpaw  you post is a good example of how a post can be taken the wrong way.

Your not wrong in what you have said but the shot of negativity and assumption at the end on a bad note. Jackalope didn't say he wasn't going to report, but implied the negativity may be too much.

Most of us (including myself) arnt word smiths or English majors. I am often frustrated when people pile on some one, or sound like it, when reporting on department meetings.

Being able to accurately summarize and then write it in a detailed way takes time and practice to do well.

Even if the department is pushing their line of B S its important to know what they are saying.

Yes, definitely hard to understand sometimes what a person means?

Went to two of those meetings in Okanogan County where the room was standing room only Against wolves.  Nothing has been done to support the anti wolf groups suggestions.  Why would anybody waste their time in going to another meeting that the rule makers could care less about your opinion or your losses?
It was very clear to all in attendance that there will be no reduction in the wolves legally.
