Centralia fur sale

FYI.....WSTA is having their fur sale on 2-21-09 at Borst Park in Centralia. If anyone needs to have bobcats or river otters CITES tagged, WDFW will be available in the morning (I think they start at 0800).
This is a chance to meet other outdoorsmen and to buy or sell some beautiful fur. Lunch is available for about 5 bucks and there will be an auction with trapping supplies and outdoor stuff in the afternoon.

Just tring to get a little more info on this. When you get your bobcats sealed can they be whole? And can you sell them whole at this event? How long is the day ussualy? Do you have to stay until everything is done to get your money?
    I've never sold at an auction like this so I was just wondering any help would be apperacated. I have also never had to seal a bobcat in this state. In WI. I had a few fishers and otters sealed and there you had to have everything skinned in order to have it sealed.

If you bring your cats in whole,  do yourself a favor and make a cut on the inside of the mouth and out the eye hole. I find it better to take my time at home than to try and do it while standing in line with everybody watching me.
WDFW should arrive around 8:30 or 9:00.  I'm not positive about the timing, but I think the winning bids are read around 10:00 or maybe 11:00. You can put a minimum asking price on your fur. When the bidding is complete, the asking price is compared to the bids received for it. If the highest bid is equal to, or greater than the asking price, your fur is automatically sold. If the highest bid is lower than your asking price, you have the option of accepting the bid or not.
You should be able to get your fur check before lunch.  I also believe WSTA charges a commission on each sale.

Recent fur market reports are pretty dismal, but you just never know.

Yesterday was a very long day -- there was a glitch in the fur bidding/selling  end of things and it wasn't straightened out until a while after lunch. I didn't leave until about 4:30.
Plenty of fur, though. In fact we ran out of tables to display it on!  Don't quote me on this, but I think beaver averaged about 20 dollars. I picked up a nice tanned marten for 36 and a couple of John Consolini's game calls.
I'm sorry you didn't find us. We were in the first building on the right as you drive into the park--- right across from the swingsets.

I did find it but by the time I did all that was left were 2 muskrat hides.

There weren't too many cats for sale.  And honestly, the only one we could remember the price on went for 36 dollars. A bunch of people brought cats and otters to be CITES tagged; but they didn't sell the cats in Centralia. I sure hope the market is better at NAFA. I'll be sending a few beavers up there in March.
