My CZ 527 got a little upgrade
« on: April 27, 2017, 06:24:31 PM »
Gave my CZ 527 Varmint 204 Ruger a little upgrade today.  This is the first Boyd's stock I've ever used on a centerfire.  Had to do a decent amount of sanding to open up the barrel channel but it wasn't to bad and I think it turned out looking fairly decent, definitely looks better than my 17 Hornet version of the same gun.

Biggest reason I switched stocks was the comb on the factory walnut stock for the 527 is pretty low and with the scope/ring/rail setup I used on my 527 204 I had to lift my head up slightly to get full view through the scope and I hate doing that.  I much prefer a fairly tight cheek weld.  That Boyd's stock I used has a raised comb so that helped considerably.  I've seen some 527's with beautiful walnut stocks from the factory but I wasn't very lucky with either of mine as they are pretty dull looking at best.

I'd say you lucked out quite well, very nice looking piece of furniture on your 527.  Both of mine are just your garden variety plain Jane looking walnut stock.  Your's is a pretty one for sure.

You mentioned yours wearing a synthetic stock, yes?  If so what/which model is it?  I believe some models came with B&C stocks, is this what you have and is it a skinny barrel or varmint contour barrel.  Maybe we could work out some kind of trade if you're interested.  Any chance you could post a pic or two?  If you'd like you can PM me and I'll give you my # so you could text me pics if you'd prefer.
