Gator/trophy boar combo hunt
« on: May 06, 2017, 06:19:06 PM »
I just got done with a 2 day hunt in South Florida where the first day I shot an 8 ft gator with my bow which the guide said in all the years of gator hunting he has never seen a pass thru so I want to give a shout out to Radical Archery Designs for making a superb Broadhead (Ti-Con & Triple Sec solid blade was both used). If you anything about gator hunting in Florida or even if you don't it's the law to cast a huge treble hook and hook the gator first so I had the experience of fighting a gator on a fishing rod then give up the pole to shoot it with a bow which shot placement with any weapon is small right behind the skull in the soft tissue in the neck aiming for the spine then it will roll over. Gator hunting is exciting because these gators are wild so they will dip on you quickly

Day 2 we woke up and loaded up the dogs and all the equipment and went to get breakfast which if you book this hunt biscuits and gravy is fantastic and cheap. Once we got to the hunting area we had a team of 7 guys loaded up in a ranger side by side and drove until we spotted roots in the area then they released the dogs which it took a couple time and before we knew it the dogs were chasing a hog through the thick brush and ran a couple hundred yards to finally come up to a monster wild boar with around 2.5 inch cutters. It was too thick for a bow so I used a pistol it ended up weighing 260 lbs. That style of hunting is very different experience but very exciting our 2nd boar was smaller which was around 200ish and teeth were worn down but very aggressive and was charging which the dogs did a great job containing the boar. They caught the boar and marked the ear for management purposes and released him. After that we called it early to take care of the hog because I had to drive hog otherwise we would have kept hog hunting. Lodging is available on the outfitters property for $65 bucks a night which I liked staying there with a big screen tv and a lounging around and 2 bedrooms with bunk beds in both rooms. Other lodging is available for a larger group of just want a place to stay that's a little more fancy. I will post the pics once I get them

I work with Florida Hunting Company which is a guided hunt with guaranteed tags no lottery. These are wild gators these aren't farmed gators that are thrown in a pond or a pen to shoot

Hunts are 2 day hunts and are $2500 for a gator that is 6-9 ft plus a hog hunt after you get your gator and Trophy gator is 9-12 ft and its $4500 these guys are great guys all southern boys that crack jokes keeping you laughing the whole trip and we saw bigger gators but it wasn't in the budget but a gator of any size is a trophy they are tough
