Anyone anneal straight wall brass?
« on: May 25, 2017, 09:15:16 PM »
Wondering if anyone anneals straight wall brass, .357, .45 acp, .30 carbine, .45-70, etc.? Is it needed or just reload until it cracks and throw it out?
My interpretation of the rules are open to interpretation.
Once I thought I was wrong but I was mistaken.

I anneal my 6.5x58R Sauer and 9.3x72R, brass it just too hard to come by to let it split.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska

Long brass like 45-70, sure. Short stuff like 45 ACP - nope, no way.

A case shoulder has nothing to do with whether you can anneal brass. It's all about the length and how fast heat transfers from the neck to the case head. You do not want to anneal the case head, that is very bad.
