Columbia river shad
« on: May 29, 2017, 07:54:22 PM »
Went 3 for 7 in about an hour fishing for shad at bonneville today. Hard fighters and they seem to be pretty deep with the water flows being what they are. Green tipped yellow shad dart about 20" from 1 1/2 oz. lead. Not too many people yet and was fishing below the bouys.

That's pretty good, seeing how the fish counts are still really low. Should be hot as hell in 2-3 weeks.

Numbers just started coming over Bonneville, I need to get about 50 or so.  Every year I think about running down there to just catch them and be done with it.

I ran down with my kids last year and we caught close to a 100 of them.  It is a lot of fun catching them on light gear.  We usually go down the second weekend of June.  Watch the number count over the damn.  When it starts getting over 20k a day going over the dam it should be good.

Not running all the way down to Bonneville?  You have millions (not literally) at McNary.

Correct, but there is about a 2 week lag for good numbers.

I'm impatient
