That washout was right after the north fork campground in the 516 unit. I'm trying to get into the 560 unit. Never been to that area and I'm trying to get my boots on the ground and get to know the area.

Check the Gifford Pinchot NF website out. It shows the roads that are washed out and what roads are open. That one on 23 rd maybe fixed this year. Lot of those roads where washed out last year. I contacted to see what rds maybe fixed this year. The 23 rd was scheduled this others they may depending on funding. Be July before 25 rd will be open.

Washout in 516 heading from Adam fork to packwood.  I was there when it spilled on to the road.  60ft wide and ugly.  Road was still intact and I stopped and made an assessment to not drive over it.  A new jeep stops and the idiot drove over it.  Road eventually washed out completely.  He was lucky.

Was that on the 21?  Can you not get to Adams Fork from Packwood now?

Where this waypoint is would be roughly the same spot I took the pic. It's right past the north fork bear camp

I think you can take the 21 rd to the 5601 then that should lead you back to the 23 rd after the wash out.

Ya. I'm determined to get into 560. I will find a way. Like many of you have mentioned there a few ways to get into it. Thank you everyone for your responses. Hope this unit is a place I can call home. Figured I'd post a location on a map so everyone can see where that washout is though.

It would be nice if the forest service could get more money to fix roads there are too many all over this state that need fixed  :twocents:

I clicked on dnr website and its clear they just whine about Trump and the environment.  Waste of time to think they will do anything good.

I was a little confused about the location. Its not between Adams fork CG and Packwood on the 21, It's South of the North Fork on the 23, right?  I hunted in 560 from Packwood last year so I just want to make sure there aren't any new washouts, which I don't think there would be from that direction.  GPNF hasn't updated their map since last year, they are probably waiting until the snow is gone to check it out.

First map shows where it was from hwy 12 into the 516 packwood unit on the 23rd. Second map is a zoomed in view to show where it's at in relation to that campground.

Wouldn't be a problem if they could cut a few trees.

Went up for a little camping and early scouting this past week.  We went in rd 21 and then tried to come out on 23.  This picture is a second washout that's a few miles farther in from the big washout on 23.

21 was passable in my F150 but some hiker chicks thought they'd give it a try in their Honda Element and we had to yank them out of the snow and send them on their way.
