Fishing derby with the kid
« on: June 04, 2017, 07:20:28 AM »
Went out with friend's daughter and my son to a kids derby yesterday. Had a good morning and he got a rod and coins out of the deal. Hopefully he also got some good memories too. I did.

He's definitely on a tear and outdoing me. I may have to go out by myself some evening just to "catch-up". He's also wanting his own gear, box, "stuff". I think he's been bit. I'm definitely excited that's he's asking to go fishing rather than wanting only video games, etc. It would be fun to get into some perch without having to drive too far.

It's great to see you have found him a hobby besides sitting in front of the Tube or watching video games. I might know where there is a tackle box full of bass gear. I quit fishing them and if I could find some one who could use them I would gladly share.  :chuckle:

Someday maybe he will get the opportunity to pick through a seasoned tackle box for a favorite bass lure. Thank you for the offer.

The fact that the blackberries did not make the winter should be considered great news. Just about every Saturday while mowing the yard I get a reminder of how much I hate those things when one reaches out and rakes my arm. Between the blackberries and nettles I'm quite a whiner to the wife after mowing the yard.  :chuckle: One of these years you are going to find a present on your front step when I decide to mail order you some actual blackberry plants. Thornless if you're lucky.

Thanks for the pointer. I've caught a few perch in lake Stevens, a few in Flowing, but never really killed it. Maybe Storm is the answer.
