Free fishing weekend
« on: June 02, 2017, 06:45:35 PM »
Noticed it's coming up again. Just curious on others thoughts of this. Not sure I'm a fan. I realize it's only 2 days but, what is the gain? Our youth are already free, which I totally agree with. Thoughts?

Taking people that don't fish to try it, or like me can't justify buying a license because you just don't have time to go.

Now then, get your equipment—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.  Gen. 27:3

I always figured they are just trying to get new people into it.  I don't mind it.

It's great. It means I can take my kids fishing and I can fish too. Any other time I just have to watch them fish.

I think it helps to sell licenses. A guy goes one weekend, enjoys himself, and wants to go again, and buys a license. Or a woman, don't mean to sexist.

One weekend to avoid. As there seems to be an additional surplus of unethical idiots out there :twocents:

It will likely be the only time I fish with my daughter this year  :(. Between graduating, a job, and heading to college in the fall it is not worth the expense of a license for her, but you bet we will be on the water somewhere .
