No luck for me. May pass on ID & focus on Mule Deer in WY & Mule Deer & Elk in MT. Good luck to those that hunt ID this year.

My Dad drew late mule deer in unit 40!  Wife's family is from the Nampa/Marsing area so we've got family and friends in the area who'll be keeping their eyes out for us. Long time applying for all of us, finally someone drew!

That is a fabulous area!

I drew unit 18 elk

Using horses ? Be prepared to see more people than you have ever seen hunting. Had that elk tag once and was floored by how many people were there. I had multiple spots scouted and every spot had tons of people. Then ventured into wilderness and was passing people like I was walking in a city park. I was told to kill a elk in the first 3 days or it gets super tough. That was true we saw elk everyday the first 3 days and they were gone. Spotted lots in wilderness but they were so far down it was impossible to pack out and some you could t get horses near them.

That really sucks to hear, sounds like too many tags are given out, might as well make it otc like the archery hunts.  I drew it at the perfect time apparently, only hunted the wilderness and it was amazing, saw 1 other bull hunter and two cow hunters.  Won't be applying for that unit
“In common with”..... not so much!!

Archery is empty. Rifle was a joke! Problem is all the bull tags 225. There's 200 or more cow tags. 95 mule deer tags and OTC whitetail and bear. I've never seen fs roads with so much traffic and camps. There were camps with 20-30 people $500k diesel pushers way up the mountain . Best advice would be to get there 3 days early find a bull and be there opening am.

18 is pounded the first week of the season then it's almost a ghost town the last week  but be ready to look low if you still have your tag at the end of the season

Good to hear , plan is the wilderness. Will be there the entire length of season . If there is elk I think I'll find them.

Has anyone received their OIL refund yet?  The website says refunds have been issued, but I haven't yet received mine.   :dunno:

My $2100 OIL refund finally showed up today.  Draw results were posted 5/17, so the refund took exactly six weeks.  I had my WY refund back on the credit card in two days.
