Working on new load

Hey guys, I started working on a new load for a Savage 10 bolt 223 with 22inch barrel 1n12 twist. Using a single stag RCBS, lee dies and a 1500 charge master. The results for me were outstanding. Here's my load development and primers made a huge difference. On these 5 shot targets I shoot bottom right first then move counter clockwise with the middle target being last. Here's the first 5 loads with pic.

Group difference could be due just to speed change ?  Be interesting to see first primer used with enough powder to match speed of second group....  yea its easy to turn shooting into a science project. Haha.

Next week I'll chrony both loads to see how much of a difference there is in speed. Going to be interesting.

I had the same thing happen just last weekend with my 338 Win Mag. I'd been using nothing but CCI 250 primers and not getting real consistent results. I had loaded up 4 with Federal 215's just to see what the difference would be, if any. I shot that group last and out of about a dozen different groups I'd shot with that rifle, it was my best group. First three into 3/4 inch, and the 4th opened it up to 1 1/2 inches. But I think there's some potential with those primers, just got to mess around with different seating depths and I'll bet I can tighten it up to consistent 1 inch or better groups.

Blacklab, I'm curious, after the first load work with the CCI400's did you reload that same brass and then switch to the BR4's??   

Also, with the first loads and the CCI 400's, was this virgin brass or maybe the first time this brass had been shot in this particular gun?

I'm asking because if the brass was reloaded using same load but with the BR4's and the brass was now fireformed to that particular gun, groups tightening up that much from load to load would maybe make a little more sense.  Usually, primers alone, don't improve groups that much but certainly anything is possible. 

Regardless, it definitely looks like you have a keeper.

This is just random brass. Loads were their own. Maybe shot 2 or 3 times 
Yes the brass used is new to this rifle. The brass is usually used in a AR 15. I was pleasantly  surprised. The loaded rounds were for my AR Wylde that I'm working on. But thought why not try them in the bolt. Glad I did these loads look very promising in this little bolt gun. Now the wylde ar is strickly using heavier long range bullets. instead of a multi tasker.
