Beware, Black Hole Weponry Barrels
« on: June 13, 2017, 02:18:29 PM »
Been 15 weeks since my order. They make good barrels but their website says 8-12 week turnaround. Talk to them today and it sounds like my AR 7mm-08 barrel will be more like 5-6 months. Had i known that I might have gone a different route.
Any other good barrel manufacturers out there that can have you shooting your build sooner? I realize production calibers are faster but those are to vanilla for me.

Try x-caliber barrels. I got a savge pre fit from them that's great. I'd imagine their ar barrels are great too.

👍👍👍

I know for a fact X-Caliber barrels makes some SPOOKY accurate 6.5 Creedmoor AR-10 barrels. I would go with X-Caliber. I no loner deal with Black Hole or their barrels, I will leave it at that.

Looks like they credited me back 10% of my purchase today, after our conversation. I have a BHW grendel barrel that is more accurate than I, so i cant complain about accuracy. Their misleading wait time scandle however, kinda erks me the wrong way.
If xcaliber can have me accurately shooting my next build in under 3 months, I spose its worth it.

On the other hand, I got my 243 LBC barrel recently in ~4 or 5 weeks, which surprised me being a less common wildcat. It's very accurate too, and all I hoped it would be, so I don't have anything bad to say about them of my own experience.

I dunno, but am guessing they wait until enough people order to do a run of barrels. If nobody else is ordering 7-08, maybe that's your delay? Not making excuses for that, I've just wondered if that's how they're doing business.

Being in a reman/production oriented company myself, from a production standpoint that makes complete sense.  Setup and change out is the most labor intensive part of most machining processes usually, so doing things in batches pays off huge.  But if that is the case they should be telling customers up front that is how they handle production.  The 8-12weeks is a rough estimate and that actual production depends on when they get other orders for that caliber.

I waited several months for mine and that was three years ago.

This is the most likely case. I waited more than a year for a .375 bore gain twist Bartlein barrel about 2 years ago. They only ran them when they had enough orders to make it worth stopping production of the more profitable barrels. I ended up just going with a 338 instead and had a barrel in less than 5 weeks.

BHB makes a good barrel but I think there are faster options out there these days if turn around time is important.

The excuse was that they had a big order come in which pushed orders like mine to the bottom. Plus the coating company they use is backed up a few weeks. Maybe I'm wrong, but i just see it as bad customer service.
