fresh air intake and catback

Anyone done it on a newer gas  truck? Did it do anything besides sound better? better mileage? more power?

How much newer truck? I have an 07 dodge and i noticed an increase in power and a small increase in mpg at 1st. Thennnnnnnnn......it went back to normal as I loved the new acceleration and power. :chuckle: and it got louder.

 :chuckle: yup, I was told watch the pedals but with the new rumble and jump of the hemi with the overhaul I got on my engine in just can't help it. :tup:

most cold air intakes are a joke , plus they can be considered emission tampering . the new rigs all draw air from the grill or inner fender areas IE they are allready cold air . second that most cold air intakes use a kn style filter that has oil on it . I've seen the oil pass through and stick to the airflow meter causing a inaccurate reading from the meter . Cat backs are fine and tuners that adjust for tire size are ok too . on most of the newer gas truck the bolt on's just add  noise !

I would agree with all of this.
If I could trade my KN CAI for a stock Toyota airbox, I would.
Unless you spend lots of time in the upper reaches of the revband, your intake and exhaust are perfectly adequate, and may actually benefit from some backpressure.

Thank you for input. I pretty much came to the same conclusion, at least the catback would sound cool :chuckle:, LOL
I found a dyno run that showed a whoping increase of 5 HP at 5000 rpm. $1,000.00 for a rumble tail pipe, not a bargain.

I've replaced a lot of Toyota MAF sensors from guys thinking a K&N was a awesome mod. It gets worse when they clean and oil it themselves to the point the oil is dripping off.

I had a KN on my last truck, an F150. Helped with the throttle response some, but made no difference at Al in power or mileage. What was interesting was that before I installed it, the the kick down would get stuck towing my travel trailer up the pass. It just wouldn't shift back into the higher gear by itself. With the KN thst issue went away. Don't understand that
