for all you guys that like the swakane tag, what are you reasons for it, knowing that is a pretty hard hunt for where the big boys are. and also which side of the unit would you hunt, the entiat side or the cashmere/leavenworth side??

I really think that any of the late mule deer hunts can be good.  There are definately some that are alot harder hunting than the others(i.e. Swakane, Mission) as opposed to the more open units.  I do think that we are past the prime so to speak of those late tags, the long seasons for MF from 03-05, late bow seasons have taken out quite a few mature deer.  A late tag is definately a better one to have in your pocket than the general season tag though so if you draw any of them you shouldn't be complaining.

Washington statewide deer raffle hunt! Does that count as a permit? If not Desert A, no brainer! I hunted with my son on his Desert youth muzzleloader hunt, awesome experience, hot as hell (90-95 degrees)and the best bucks were all nocturnal but still a great youth hunt!

I pulled an Entiat Archery permit two years ago.. Very nice tag, saw a ton of deer.  However, I would love to pull an Entiat A (rifle) tag.  There are some hawgs up in them Entiat hills.  When I spoke with the local biologist for the area, He stated that 5-6000 Mulies winter in the unit. I do not doubt his figures.  Saw enormous bucks down low in the private orchards and high up (well away from the roads).  Next time I pull a tag, I'll go knock on some doors and promise my first born.

I think WAMULEYHUNTER would agree with you, since his dads tag ended up in the ear of one of those low bucks.

The state wide wa raffle permit, is an amazing tag, but get ready for high stess levels, high blood pressure, and a bunch of other problems, physical and mental. haha, i think dad is just now recovered.  Those big bucks start high, and come down low, especially like winters that we had last winter.  Hey Coug!! stay out of my orchards!! just joking, there wasnt as many monsters down in the orchards this year as years in the past, still a few though:) let me know if you draw.

MuleyHunter... Yeah... I stayed out of the orchards and the private lands.  I'm a huge proponent of shooting trespassers.  I own a little bit of land and my blood boils every time I see where someone's been on it without my knowledge.
The bruiser bucks I saw in the orchards were on my drive in and the drive out.  I could've sworn they were flippin' me the bird as I was driving past knowing they were safe.
