Wild strawberry lodge Alaska
« on: July 23, 2017, 02:07:43 AM »
Anyone here work with these guys before? Long story short I got invited this year to go on a 3 day 4 night all expenses paid fishing trip with the owners of my company! Also... my two brother in laws were invited to go along as well. Talk about exciting! We leave Wednesday august 16th and come back august 20th! This most likely will be once in a life time for me. I'm stoked! We will be fishing for salmon, halibut, lingcod and rockfish. Feel like I won the lotto :chuckle: I'll be updating this post with pictures here this next month.

I was just up there fishing with them on a company trip a couple of weeks ago. I had never been on a guided (been on charters locally) fishing trip, so I didn't really have anything to compare it to. The lady that owns and runs the place is top notch and did a great job at making us feel comfortable and welcome. The staff (mostly young college kids) was great and bent over backwards to make sure our stay was enjoyable. We fished with Captain Mike and Deckhand Kyle on the Jackpot. Great guys that we had a good time with on our three days on the water. There were 6 of us fishing and we brought back over 750 pounds of straight meat, so they knew how to keep us busy and on the fish. They processed all of the fish there, flash froze it and shipped it down here for us without any issues. My only complaint was the food at the lodge was so-so, but we had heard there chef had just taken another job and could tell they were scrambling.  Other than that we had an excellent time and I would guess that your experience will be similar.
The best friend a guy could have asked for. RIP chasing pheasants in heaven Denali girl.

Great timing! I will be up there at that time at another lodge. I used to fish at APC (Wild Strawberry AKA Alaska Premier Charter's). They run a top notch operation and you will love it. PM if you would like a tour of the area since I have mini van to cruise around in. We will be at Island View Lodge. We have been going to Sitka for 20+ years and love the place. You won't want to miss a trip to the north end of town and the old fish hatchery. You are in walking distance to the P-bar so make sure you hit that.

Great to see those fish properly dressed, too!  Glad you had a good time.
