I know it's super early but any reports? I'm itching to go to the nasty mud pit and fight for a spot

its super hot right now, use 65lbs mono and a jig
 :sry:

waaaaaaay early

I don't even bother til september or so, and its the only reason why I even buy a fishing lisence anymore. ive spent alot of time figuring that river out... I use a mooching reel... absolutely a blast, I know a few secrets about that river too, but you can use a boat on it now, I wanna drift it from the freeway to the mouth in my row boat, but, its a weird lil river, even seen sturgeon in it

even got a spot where there is a resident black bear that hangs out along the river, seen piles of scat and half eaten fish in the bushes

I got to fish it every day for a month straight one year, was on unemployment, so, I fished, but, lots of people, and its a frustrating place to fish at times, mexicans arent as bad as they used to be, they got enough tickets they started following the rules, russians can be pretty bad there, dont take any risks wdfg has it on lockdown alot of the time,

pm me if you want to know more or have any questions

Drifting would be OK.

I was into them thick last year in August but not this early. I'll be out tomorrow morning

hooked one Saturday, had a dull hook so it didn't set, saw 6 or 7, went Monday, saw a jack splashing around, nothing else, bailed early

keep an eye out for atlantics!!! that river is highly vulnerable, id put money on those Atlantic's circling guemes and subsequently padilla samish and lummi

I was thinking about that. I wonder if the Atlantics would go up the samish and spawn?

go up the samish? its the most susceptible river, its right there. the atlantics wont go toto skagit bay or the nooksack, they areare going to mill around guemes, fidalgo, and cypress. if youve ever seen a mass of hatchery or pen fish, alot are missing one fin because of the direction they swim, the current around guemes is a swirl, so, they are just going to ride it, samish is the only river in that area. my biggest fear is if you look on the cooke website you will notice ikura(roe) is a product of the atlantic salmon from that facility. is it sterile? couldnt say. would I kill an atlantic and huck it in the bushes if I caught one on the samish? you bet yer sweet buttcheeks I will

http://www.truenorthseafood.com/catalogue/our-products/fish-roe/

makes you wonder
