Which rangefinder do you use?

Leupold or Leica.  Had great luck with Leupold.  Wouldn't touch anything Vortex.

I purchased the Vortex Ranger 1000 2 years ago.  It is great when you have 100% clear line of sight.  However, it picks up the tiniest intervening object if there is one - raindrop, blade of grass tiny twig.  I tried to get it to range a mule deer in very light brush last archery season - even when the crosshair was on the deer and in the clear, it was under-ranging, 28, 35 when I KNEW it was farther.  I finally gave up, gave it my best old-school range estimate of 40 yards - and shot right under the brisket.  More like 46 I guess, that's hunting

Leica all the way... Was out Antelope hunting last year with a member on here as we were leaving truck he mentioned he forgot his rangefinder. I told him not to worry I had mine ( a Vortex) we got into a nice herd of goats between 200 and 300 yards out my Vortex just flat would not pick them up.  Hunted later in the season and friend had a Leica simply put is was just amazing on everything we ranged.  I talked with other big game guides all were using Leica.  I am now using a Leica and absolutely love it.  A lot of prairie dogs and gophers in the past 3 weeks wished I never had it.

Why the ban on Vortex?

Every single person that I personally know has had issues with their Vortex stuff wether it is a scope, binocs or range finder. It is a good thing that their warranty is so great because you will more than likely need it. There is a reason that you see a lot of Vortex stuff for sale on this site and many others.

Thanks for the advice folks!  I found a deal on a Sig Kilo 1250 for $179.99 so I jumped on it.  I'll let you know my thoughts once I've had a chance to use it!

I have a Leica 1600 and a Sig Kilo 2000. The Sig gets more use.

Sig is pretty amazing for the money. Leupolds work well in good conditions, a little fog or haze they don't so much. Vortex are by far the worst of the bunch, so painfully slow.

I bought a new G7,got in to a long range.Before that had Leupold TBR_1000
