Possibly hunting Winston Archery

Any thoughts on hunting the Winston unit? Is there many places to camp on the State land? Going to be coming in from the Winston creek road side.

Plenty of camping on the 3000, personally have used the pit on the 541 intersect

Tough going right now. Went scouting yesterday and it was brutally dry and the horse flies and wasps were awful. You can drive the mainlines up to the Weyco pass gates, but lots of signs closing the woods between Winston Creek Rd. and Camp 9. There are lots of places to camp though - for you and everyone else that packs in there.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but the closure would be to any vehicle driving? Beehive Rd? Would you happen to know if it was locked?

Thanks for the responses, I was scouting up there over the weekend. Saw a small herd with two spikes and about ten cows, about 5 miles up the camp 9 road in a clearcut.

Do you guys mind if I ask where you are getting the road names from?  I see a lot of people referencing road numbers and names, is there a public map listing them somewhere?  Thanks!

You get a map when you buy the permit. Used to be able to buy just the map. Not sure if you still can.
