just got back from archery elk...the area was THICK with coyotes.
going to go back out with the .243 after the rifle season over there and through the summer scouting time and double up on scouting and coyote hunting.

Have Bearmanric make you a closed and open reed call, learn to use them. I have a fancy FoxPro and another simpler e-call. I use my hand calls most of the time, prefer them to an e-call.

Rick made me an open reed distress/raspy call for this season. I used it two days ago out in Tahuya, took ten minutes to call in a coyote, middle of the day, came right to it. An easy to use, very portable, inexpensive call. Doesnt' take long to learn to use the open reed calls.

+1 on RR calls I used his open reed production call at the PM Convention and it worked great, I have a whole set from him, open reed, closed reed and horn howler.

If your talking e-callers I suggest the least expensive FoxPro with a remote.  Resale value on a FP is good if you find you aren't going to continue hunting and you can recoup you money if it becomes an addiction and you want to upgrade.  My BinL is still using a FP Spitfire and 416B doing control work in Northern WI.  A hundred sounds are almost never needed, I can hunt for weeks without ever getting off the 10 presets on my FP or the same bank on my Minaska.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska

I have a fancy FoxPro model. I have used it some over the last two years but hadn't had it out for at least six months, using hand calls instead. I took it out today for a hunt. Was reminded that I normally prefer to use hand calls. More room for creativity. Better sound reproduction.  But...it is nice sometimes to relax and just push buttons. Can also use clever placement of the e-call to help trick the coyotes.

MFK all the way! Those diaphragm calls can do it all. I use icotec. Foxpro sucks. Foxpro customer service was the worst and their call controller had a funky red light making the screen impossible to see what I was playing. Using diaphragm calls I've called 30+. Howling is unreal!
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Amen

+2 on RR calls.  Rick provides great hand calls.  Worth the effort to look into his calls.
