This is laughable and ignorant.

Mine has 260K, no emission crap, and is still running like a champ.

Passed it down to a foreman, added a fuel cell, and tool box in the back and it still rages on.

:chuckle: Your correct, many good ones and it is impressive when tuned/deleted correctly.  But it has some serious issues too.  I know a person who lemoned lawed his in the first year less.

Key words in that statement.
Glad you've had good luck, but these are real issues if your purchasing a used truck in stock configuration.

I had one for a year, the only reason I would buy another is if it was a great deal and all I was going to use it for was racing/fun (not if I wanted to actually be competitive though).

The guy before may have gotten some use out of it in the 80k he had on it but I sure didn't. In one year and 7k miles I had to fix the truck every time I pulled with it. Thermostats, radiator, bad lip seals in the trans, alternator, and the list goes on. The last straw was head gaskets just one week after the trans was rebuilt. I'm sure with the luck I had the fuel system would have taken a dump and trashed the injectors if I'd have kept it (another $5k). I had more chassis related issues as well but I'll leave that out since we are focusing on the 6.4 aspect here. I can't imagine how much more it would have cost me if it wouldn't have been deleted.

Traded it for a C on the fender 2 years ago 22k miles so far many of them towing and no issues.

I knew better when I bought the 6.4 from research and my previous experience with the reliable Cummins but I gave the 6.4 a shot anyway  :bdid:

Mudman, I think you and I even spoke about the 6.4 on here shortly after I bought it. At that time it hadn't bit me yet.

This is what reliable looks like.  No emission crap, mods, 16mpg average, 12-14 towing, 18-20 hwy. 6speed.  Last Dodge was an auto, trans went at 160k.  Only real problem it had besides maintenance things wearing out.

Do you have the on board compressor for the air bags?

Nope.  Would like to do it in addition of Pacbrake system as one. But first comes a dual disk valair clutch upgrade and efi to eliminate crappy tuner on it now.

I make mortgage payments off of the commissions I make on Ford diesel truck repairs LOL. I used to make mortgage payments on Dodge truck repairs.  They all break. I will say that there are far more ford engine repairs done than Dodge/Cummins. The dodges have other issues. They all have issues though and that’s the important part.
