Garmin collar
« on: October 20, 2017, 02:45:47 PM »
I have a Garmin delta sport collar for about 3 years. After hunting last weekend I couldn't shout off the collar, just the green light stayed on but did not blink. Now my transmitter will not turn on and off. I put a new battery in the collar but not in the transmitter. My dog did go in a water trough to cool down but the transmitter only got damp in a light rain shower. I thought they would last longer than this as I rarely use it outside of bird hunting. My dog is a complete Jerk without it.
Anyone have this problem with this brand of collar?

Lots of guys are still happy with Garmin. Since the buy out, it (TT) just isn't the same.

Have you called their CS? I have found them to be very helpful.

I called their CS dept. Its going to cost me $129 for a refurbished collar and transmitter. I got to keep the old batteries in both units. I was hoping they would have lasted longer than 3 yrs.
I still can't believe that both units went down on the same weekend. The only think I did different was to use their car charger to charge both units. I used it before with no problems. They said a power surge while charging could effect the unit.

Bob,

Just my .02, but at $130 you may as well go get a new Dogtra, which will last you until you don't need it any longer.
