This maybe a stupid question but can the meat from this hunt leave Montana before the CWD test results are complete?

Yes. Just can't take skulls with any flesh or brain matter or the spinal column.

Hopefully they ship quickly, we're looking at leaving either Friday or Sunday.  I'm not sure if you can get the tags reprinted at a FWP office.

I'll start a thread for anyone that wants to discuss the hunt and share info.

CWD rules get broken constantly!  Ive seen so many whole deer leave cwd states over the years.
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton

I thought about buying one of these but the 4 hour drive didn't seem appealing to me, good luck to those with a buck tag. I'm sure a few big deer will be taken on these hunts

My buddy and I are driving 10 hrs but we both have freezers that are running low and I don't want to depend on a depredation elk or spring bear to get me through to next fall

Wonder how they disposed of it?  If it is still in Oregon, then the state isn't a CWD free state as you can't destroy the prions and they are viable essentially forever from what I read.

That map in the article is telling. Every yellow dot is a known case in a captive deer. Look at those dots and how they are associated with the known areas of CWS, (the areas in darker gray).  It's very likely that deer farming had a lot to do with the spread of this disease. Buying and shipping of these deer could easily be the way this disease spread to new areas.
