Late 1800,s Moore and Harris blackpowder 12g shotgun help needed
« on: December 06, 2017, 06:18:21 PM »
I have a turn of the century Moore & Harris black powder 12g shotgun in beautiful shape. Passed down the family lines.  I am trying to find information and what the value is? I found several interesting articles about Moore, and his business dealing in England etc. I also wonder if there is a good way of having it appraised?  I was told it was likely a high end gun at the time due to all the intricate carving and engravings including gold and silver inlays.  Moore company built for the military at times also.

Any ideas are appreciated thanks Mike

Here's a discussion on one like your, as you scroll down there is a post by Brithunter with history and timeline for the maker.

It's a beauty,  I shoot one of the Berretta 300 yr Anniversery O/U percussion shotguns, killed a bunch of ducks and grouse with it.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska
