double .222
« on: December 12, 2017, 06:26:08 PM »

Hunting new ground yesterday, called in a mature male first.  He stopped at about fifty yards, and I dropped him.  Went to puppy distress about thirty seconds later, and a young male showed up about 100 yards beyond him.  He saw me when I shifted the rifle to line up on him, and returned the way he came.  When he went from my view, I dropped into the draw in front of me, and eased up the other side....on my belly.

He was out about 150 yards, watching me, but didn't know what he was seeing, because he let me worm my up to where I had a good shot, which took him through the shoulders.  DRT, in both cases.  Just the way I like it!

The mature male, (nearest the rifle) has very heavy fur.  Almost looked like he had a mane.  His neck appeared bigger than his head.

Not much in the way of cover at this location, so just went prone.
