Coyotes love cattle, even if not stealing a calf.  They are always close by.  During calving season, yes cattle, thanks bone, they are a big problem.  Partially born calves are often killed while the cow is down calving.  If you are willing to carefully take coyotes during calving season you are an asset to the cattleman.

If there is calving on PUBLIC lands, you don't need any permission from the cattle owners.
