« on: March 06, 2009, 10:43:36 PM »
Anyone have any good or bad experiences using the timbereye 5.0 camera? I'm either buying acouple of these or moultrie d40's, the d40s are cheaper but i'm going towards quality for a good price, so if the there is a big difference i'd like to know thanks again. Swiftkid----.220

The first decision point is determining what you want the camera for.  Sounds like you want quality photos, but for what purpose?  Do you just want another "set of eyes" scouting for you or are you looking to get good wildlife photos, or are you just wanting a decent scouting camera in general?

For example, I wanted another camera to just capture game moving through an area that looked interesting to me.  I picked up a D40 for $70 and have been very happy with it.  LONG battery life and dependable.  Photo quality and flash reach don't even come close to my Sony homebrew cams, but for $70 I didn't expect that, so I'm happy with it.  I had it running all spring/summer into late fall on the same (6) D batteries.  Hundreds of photos, and lots at night with the flash.

I don't have experience with the Timber Eye 5.0, but I'm sure somebody here does.  Here are a few D40 pics in with differing conditions.  Not the best images but they told me everything I needed to know about the bucks in my areas.  Hope this helps you decide.
