My stomping grounds
« on: January 01, 2018, 06:08:05 PM »
We finally got back into our old stomping grounds for elk this last season. What a relief it was to be in there been quite a few years. My mom loved to go to elk camp with my dad and us kids. My first year there I was 5 months old and haven’t missed a season. Lots of memories with my grandparents friends and family. We lost my mom in September of 2016 to ALS so this was the first year at our old camp without her and my 44th year at Elk camp.
We were into elk everyday of the season which has not happened in many years. I think she was smiling down on us this year. Big bulls and lots of Cows all season. With good weather this Elk season pushed animals down low for us. No I didn’t get to squeeze the trigger but did see a spike our last day in there. He was the last to come out into the meadow and quickly got behind all the cows. Was great to see so many animals this year and hoping the trend continues but we shall see.
Can’t wait for Turkey season cause I will be back in there to hear the Elk bugle and hopefully find a bird. Thanks for reading just finally got around to posting this.

Nothing heals like some quality time in the woods, time to ponder, time to remember and time to reflect.  I hope that 2018 will find you spending a lot of time doing these things and bringing you peace.  The woods are my church.
