Controversy over Record PA Buck
« on: January 26, 2018, 09:08:21 AM »
The buck smashed PAs archery Typical record, are other hunters just jealous or do they have a point? The buck is a true giant, not sure how I feel about it.

Assuming you in fact believe he killed it - then he killed it.

He did not kill it "well" which gets minus points.

He did keep looking and eventually recover the animal which gets plus points for perseverance.

In the end not much to be proud of IMHO.

Would have been a whole different story if he recovered the buck with in a couple days...even a week.

Did he tell anyone when he says he shot it? If not, I'd be inclined to say he found a dead deer with a nice rack.  :dunno:

I must be missing some information here. He found a rotting buck in the woods and cut off the antlers. Who's to say that he actually shot it? Tell me what I'm missing. And don't get all huffy about it either. It's not like I'm blasting your friend on social media. :chuckle:

Honest WDFW Officer, I shot this trophy over a month ago and just found his remains. Would that fly in Washington?

There is always a reason every new record must have been illegal! I say leave the guy alone unless F&G finds something he did wrong.

I am not bashing at all. It is truly a trophy. My understanding is that it is illegal to remove skulls or sheds not naturally dropped in our state. My question was if this would fly in Washington after that period of time.

Sounds like a bunch of jealous bums.

:yeah:He said he shot the deer with a bow and tracked the blood trail but lost it. He obviously would remember what the buck looked like since its a giant. Good on him for keeping up the search and finally recovering it. Wouldn't it still be a record if it was a dead head anyways? Washington is the only state I know of where you cant pick up antlers from a dead deer. The guy got a huge buck good for him why are the other guys even wasting time and energy on it? Jealousy

I just read somewhere that the new #2 Boone and Crockett bighorn sheep was one that was found dead in Montana. What's the difference between it and a dead deer?
Is it that the guy is saying he killed it and trying to take all the glory for it?
