Screwed and glued
« on: March 09, 2009, 12:28:14 PM »
Finally put my elk form together this weekend.  When I did my moose I did all sorts of things to make it stronger.   This time I just smeared it with bondo, a coupel extra divits I guess, and screwed it on.  Should I have done anything else.  I cut the extra bondo off before it dried hard.  Will smooth......

I do pretty much hang on it after a day of curring to make sure it will hold though. I figure if it will hold up 150 pounds it should be good for a 20 pound rack !

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

That will work.  I have just always used expandable foam and a section of 2x4

I dent both sides with a small hammer and then cover with bondo and stick 8-10 4" screws in it from different angles. Never have had a problem. Worked fine for a 63 inch Yukon moose with 60 lb antlers.

:chuckle:  I was going to take some pics then thought who the hell would want to watch me put together an elk form.  I'll get her going.  Trying to get the bones on at the right angle is my next effort I guess.  I haven't done one of these pedestals, at least this big before so trying to figure out how to attach it to the stand.  I guess it will hold.  :)
