Almost brought an elk home that some had hit on Ravensdale cutoff this morning while going to work. A King Co road maintenance worker had one lane closed down and people were pulling wide around the elk. Rag horn right in the middle of the road. Got out of my truck. Gal that hit the elk was pretty shook up. Went over to the worker and looked over at the elk and he was still alive. Legs pretty broke up breathing not to bad. He was watching everything around him like the cars going by and him trying to move his back legs to no one hits them. Kept looking back at me a the worker. Pretty sad to see an animal suffer. LE had already been called. I thought good and hard but the voice or reason, the wife, broke through. We have the banquet this weekend and we are neck high in donations. No time to dress and butcher an elk.
