New VA Veteran's ID card - Took me about 10 Minutes
« on: March 28, 2018, 11:24:26 AM »
You'll need a picture of a valid government issued ID and a picture of you with a white background. You'll get a VA ID card that will show you're a veteran.

I applied back in November and I'm still waiting. I went to the DMV with my DD214 and got VETERAN status on my DL.

I don't believe the VID card was available in November. That might have been the sign up for online PX use. I'm pretty sure the VID card only just became available in March. Not positive but pretty sure.

It took about a half hour to get past the paper work. When I finished it came up pending. Called and they informed me that with the huge amount of apps the system had hit the ground in flames.  :chuckle: Said they have the bugs worked out and should be getting cleaned up. I was able to print the card with a Big Ol pending across the front of it.  :chuckle:

Their site crashed after the launch so they delayed the applications, mine was submitted and listed as "PENDING" and is still in that status today. I called and they said they are working out the bugs

I applied for the VID card in January 2018. They didn't like the pic I sent so I sent in another one but accidently deleted my January appl & redid a new one in March. Still pending.  :bash:
