Very open ended. What's the application? Are you buying new? Judging by the engine choices I'm going with yes.

The top one can go........

I’ve had two V8’s. A 2010 king ranch and a 2011 STX extra cab. Currently have a 2015 lariet 3.5 ecoboost.

There’s a ton of different research and comparisons online, couple good YouTube videos too. Specs show that the eco boost tows more and has more torque. The 5.0 has more payload. If I remember correctly.

I’ve enjoyed the eco boost so far. Although I wouldn’t buy one for the fuel economy. I’m at about 15.5 with a 33.2 inch Nitto Trail grappler tire and 2 inch level.

I don’t think you can go wrong either way. The 5.0 has been around for a long time and has the good ole v8 sound. But the ecoboost has been performing really well ever since they came out, I think around 2011.

If I was to get the eco boost now, it’d be with the new 10 speed transmission

Good luck!

Yes, new.  It needs to:

•   Tow the 17’ Arima (about 3K lbs)
•   Tow a dual snowmobile trailer over the passes
•   Tow dual ATVs on a trailer
•   I want to put my ATV in the back and close the tailgate (this oddly enough may limit my engine choices – I can’t close the gate with a 6.5’ bed and there is no such animal as an 8’ bed F150 with a 3.5 engine (??).
•   I intend to put many dead animals and fish in the bed.
•   Haul firewood
•   Do the usual and customary truck duties.

I had a 5.0L (302) in my 1st truck, a 1970 F100.  That was a good engine.

How many full sized seats do you need?

There are 2 different 3.5 ecoboosts. You can get the 8' bed with the regular ecoboost but not the high output ecoboost.
Did you try building it online?
https://shop.ford.com/build/f150/#/select/

It let me build it with the 3.5 ecoboost, 8' bed, regular cab or the super cab and the 10 speed auto.

Would that 3.5 tow my 21.5 foot boat over the pass ok? I’m in the market for a truck. Just so expensive.

My old half ton Chevy with the 5.3 would tow my 21’ boat over the pass.
The 3.5 ecoboost F150, properly equipped, is rated to tow over 13k pounds.

All my friends who had the "eco-boost" after towing for a little bit, got rid of them and went with the Dodge Hemi model.

Just like chain saws,  smaller required more RPM's which in the long run wore out faster.  Larger saws with low end torque lasted longer and got more done!

If you just have to have a Ford,  the 5L is the only choice you've offered on list.
The only good tree, is a stump!

A 21.5' boat is about 3K pounds, add trailer and gear and you will still be well under 5K.  Any of the F150 engines should handle that easily.

I went with the 2.7L and it's rated to tow 7.6K.  More than enough for my needs.  It has more torque and HP than my old V8.  Peak torque is at lower RPM too (2750).  So far I'm happy with it.

Wrong.
Even the puny 2.7 ecoboost makes almost as much torque as the 5.0 and at lower RPM’s.
