Squirrel Mount for Bday present
« on: May 30, 2018, 10:43:16 AM »
Heya HuntWA -

Looking for a mounted squirrel for my friend's Bday party this weekend (I know, short notice). Ideally, on it's back w/ tire tracks across it's belly. :-) I found a bunch online but don't want to spend the $$ or would expect to get them quick. It's more of a joke gift since he's struck out on a few recent hunts... except for the squirrel.

If you're on the west side, I'd drive to meet you or we can drop ship it today. Trade preferred or a combo depending on the deets.

Thanks!

I bought a mounted starling head from a guy on etsy. Can't recall what his name was, but you can do a search on there, you'll be surprised what pops up on there.
$5 is a lot of money if you ain't got it

And he's from California so you can probably get it in less than a couple of days.

There are a few good ones from Etsy but due to my procrastination it won't be here by Sunday.   :bash:

True - been there too. All the skews I looked at were late next week out to July. Etsy, eBay, Amazon, Craigslist have been scoured.

Unless someone comes up here and lives within a few hours, I'll have to get a real present like an Archery Elk Hunt or something... ugh. :-)

Since it is so short of notice and time sensitive, why not drive around and get a road kill squirrel. Set it up how you want it with a card saying something like- My friend, I went out and harvested this B&C squirrel in honor of your birthday. I hope you appreciate all the effort that went into this gift and remember that it was given with love. As you and I have slightly different tastes, I will let you take care of all the mounting process in the pose of your choice. Enjoy this trophy and remember me when you gaze upon it.  Or something like that, you did say it was kind of a joke gift ?  I know my buds would get a kick out of it and It would be a gift never forgotten  :chuckle:

You are one with the force Obi-Wan Kenobi.

I had a whole mock hunting show, B&C certificate, the attached shirt (ordered) and the taxidermy was going to be the icing. I was going to break down the stalk as if he was approaching a bull elk. I also was planning to reflect on the age classification of the squirrel and how full of a life it lead and how the meat was donated to the local hawk and crow communities.
