Lab spending time under water.
« on: June 06, 2018, 04:07:17 PM »
On my last visit to a pond with my 9 MO Lab pup, we were doing no line retrieves with a rubber dummy and after around 8 or 9 retrieves (with rests), my lab did a high dive on a short throw that took him under the surface.

The strange part was he seemed to stay down there a long time twisting around like he was confused.

He was down there so long I almost went in after him, but he finally surfaced and returned to shore without retrieving the dummy.

I checked him out and he looked OK, I didn't send him back in, just let him be with out giving any commands.

After a couple of minutes, without any words from me, he went back in (slowly this time) and retrieved the dummy.

I've never seen behavior like this before, I've had dogs dive that liked to dive, but not like this, anyone else experience something like this?

Post a video
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checked by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."
