What's in your elk pack part 4 - Optics, Electronics, and Navigation
«

Let’s roll with part 4 of this super awesome series of threads on “what’s in your elk pack”. What do you cats have in your elk pack for optics, electronics, and navigation? For the purpose of these threads, let’s assume we’re talking about pack in hunts.
If memory serves, I normally carry the following:
Optics – Binos, Zeiss Terra 10x32; Spotter (if taken), Vortex Razor 11X33X50.
Electronics – GPS, old school Lowrance (15ish years old and still kicking); Rangefinder, Sig Sauer Kilo 1250.
Navigation – Brunton Compass, maps for area(s) hunted.
Well, what's in your elk pack for optics, electronics, and navigation?

It depends on which weapon season, state, and area that I'm hunting regarding which binoculars I bring.
Binos: Either Vortex Diamondback 8x28 or Nikon Monarch 10x56 (with tripod mount).
Rangefinder: Leica Rangemaster 1200
GPS: Garmin E-trex or Garmin Map 60C, OnX Cell Phone App, InReach Explorer
Always a Compass & Maps, which get used often.
I usually keep the GPS off, and use maps. Only turn on the GPS in the evenings walking back to camp in the dark.
